U.s. Regulator Weighs High-speed Trading Curbs

I use the word IDEAL stock because we want to be trading the stocks that best suit our trading algorithms and strategies. When I was a Hedge Fund Trader, I didnt care about the actual name of the Future or Stock that I was trading. I was only concerned if the security had: 1. Enough LIQUIDITY (trading volume and available size) 2. The technical shape of the chart fit my trading strategy Most people dont utilize trading algorithms and strategies so my suggestion to you is for you to learn how to identify which stocks are HOT and are in PLAY and how to trade in the direction of their main trend.

High-frequency traders typically use computer algorithms that enable them to execute multiple trades in milliseconds, far faster than the capability of any human. But with rapid-fire darts in and out of investments, the high-speed trades differ from automated trading executed for Main Street investors. As a result, the release said the CFTC “is interested in better understanding (high-frequency trading) and whether it should receive different regulatory attention.” The agency release questioned whether efforts to reduce trading order-processing times could “also lead to a competitive race to the bottom” a situation in which speed outruns traders’ risk management systems. “In a trading environment where a single algorithm can submit hundreds of orders per second, risk management systems operating at slower speeds could allow an algorithm that is operating in unexpected ways to disrupt one or more markets,” the release said.

FNF November 16th Options Begin Trading

If an investor was to sell-to-open that put contract, they are committing to purchase the stock at $24.00, but will also collect the premium, putting the cost basis of the shares at $23.20 (before broker commissions). To an investor already interested in purchasing shares of FNF, that could represent an attractive alternative to paying $24.80/share today. Because the $24.00 strike represents an approximate 3% discount to the current trading price of the stock (in other words it is out-of-the-money by that percentage), there is also the possibility that the put contract would expire worthless. The current analytical data (including greeks and implied greeks) suggest the current odds of that happening are 61%. Stock Options Channel will track those odds over time to see how they change, publishing a chart of those numbers on our website under the contract detail page for this contract .
