Thus the newly launched fund is quite cheaper than the most popular ETFs in the space. It charges much less than the average expense ratio (0.49%) within the European equities space, making it one of the least expensive options. The cheaper fees might work in favor of the newly launched ETF helping it to garner more assets. If that becomes the case, we might see more additions to the ETF lineup from the issuer in the U.S. on the horizon.

Obama To Dine With Woman Helped By Pay Raise – Abc News

Obama asks for $3.7 billion for immigration crisis | abc7chicago.com

White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer says Alex’s boss voluntarily raised her pay the day after Obama’s January State of the Union address. That’s when Obama urged Congress to raise the federal minimum to $10.10 an hour. Pfeiffer says the raise allowed Alex to pay her rent and groceries without concern and says Alex wrote Obama to thank him. Obama has been meeting recently with Americans who personify economic challenges he’s trying to address. He begins a three-day trip Tuesday to Colorado and Texas.

Immigration: Barack Obama in Political Bind Over Unaccompanied Minors – TIME

It all comes with comprehensive immigration legislation dead in Congress for the year and Obama preparing to take steps by his executive authority to change the nation’s faulty immigration system where he can – plans that could be complicated by the border crisis. Cornyn and other Republicans kept up their criticism of Obama’s decision not to include a border visit in his Texas trip, but the White House held firm, instead adding the meeting on immigration to Obama’s schedule in Dallas. Perry announced plans to attend. As for the spending request, some Republicans said they would have to review the details before weighing in. “We’re going to take a look at it. This is clearly a huge crisis,” said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

On the Senate side, Republicans argued for changing a 2008 law signed by GOP President George W. Bush that requires deportation hearings before sending back children from non-bordering countries. They blame the process for a backlog created by the surge in unaccompanied minors from Central America entering the United States illegally from Mexico. “I don’t think we can solve the problem unless we revisit” the law, said conservative Republican Sen. John Cornyn of Texas. Democrats, however, want to keep the law intact to ensure that any children who deserve asylum get due process in http://www.obamastudentloanforgiveness.net the form of a full hearing.

The Appropriations Committee and other Members, including the working group on the border crisis led by Rep. Kay Granger, will review the White House proposal, Michael Steel, a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner, said in a statement. The Speaker still supports deploying the National Guard to provide humanitarian support in the affected areaswhich this proposal does not address. And liberals are organizing to block the White House efforts to rewrite laws to make the deportation of child migrants from Central America less cumbersome. Under current law, unaccompanied minors from Central America are automatically referred to the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services, which works to place them with family members already residing in the United States while they await a court date. Unaccompanied minors from Mexico, however, are treated differently, and can be screened for immediate return to their home country by U.S.

Obama To Press For Action On Transportation Funds – Abc News

The report also said states and local governments were well positioned now to undertake capital projects because construction is cheaper and because the cost of borrowing through municipal bonds is at a historic low. Obama will discuss the issue during remarks Tuesday at a facility in Virginia that tests new technologies for highway transportation. He’ll also promote the need to invest in the nation’s infrastructure Thursday during a trip to Delaware, where he’ll announce an initiative to increase private sector investment. The administration has warned that by early August the fund will no longer have enough money to cover promised aid to states, and the government will begin to stretch out payments. States have been told to expect a 28 percent reduction in aid on average. The White House argues that the United States has fallen behind other major economies in its spending for transportation needs.

Obama seeks to ease Germany’s concerns on spying – Quincy Herald-Whig | Illinois & Missouri News, Sports

Seeking to play down the growing rift, the White House said only that Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel had “exchanged views on U.S.-German intelligence cooperation” and that Obama had said he’d stay in close touch about intelligence cooperation going forward. The White House said the rest of the call focused on other global conflicts in Ukraine and Iran. Still, the call comes amid fresh strains in an espionage dispute that reached a new low last week when Germany demanded that the CIA station chief in Berlin leave the country. That move followed published accounts alleging that American intelligence recruited two Germans to spy for Washington: a man who worked at Germany’s foreign intelligence agency, and a defense ministry employee. The last known conversation between Obama and Merkel was on July 3, but that call took place before German officials had arrested the first alleged U.S.

Obama ‘encouraged’ by Egypt ceasefire plan | TheHill

Obama said no country can accept rockets fired indiscriminately at its citizens, and condemned the inexcusable attacks from Hamas. But in a nod to growing anger among Muslims over civilian deaths in the Israeli counteroffensive, Obama also said the death and injury of Palestinian civilians is a tragedy. The pictures we are seeing in Gaza and Israel are heart-wrenching, Obama said. student loan forgiveness programs An estimated 185 Palestinians have died in the fighting, with another 1,000 estimated wounded. No Israelis have yet died from the hundreds of rockets fired from Gaza into Israel, thanks in part to the U.S.-funded Iron Dome system. The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee called on leaders to avoid the dinner over the administrations refusal to condemn the Israeli airstrikes. Obama welcomes Egypt’s ceasefire plan for Gaza – Yahoo News

At an Iftar dinner marking the Muslim Holy month of Ramadan, Obama also said Israel had a right to defend itself against “inexcusable” rocket attacks but described the deaths of Palestinian civilians in the conflict as a “tragedy.” Obama spoke after Egypt said a ceasefire should start on Tuesday and that it was willing to host high-level Israeli and Palestinian delegations for talks after a truce went into effect. Obama said Washington’s priority was to restore a 2012 ceasefire between Israel and Hamas after a previous explosion of violence. “We are encouraged that Egypt has made a proposal to accomplish this goal that we hope can restore the calm that we are seeking,” Obama said in the State Dining Room of the White House. “The pictures that we are seeing in Gaza and in Israel are heart wrenching,” he added. “I will say very clearly, no country can accept rockets fired indiscriminately at civilians. Obama, GOP Get Negative Ratings On Handling Of Border Crisis

In a letter to Congress last week, Obama said the funding would be used for a number of purposes, including improving border security, building additional detention facilities, and sending more immigration judges to speed up deportation proceedings. Despite the support for the funding request, the poll found that 58 percent of Americans generally disapprove of the way Obama is handling the border crisis. Just 33 percent approve. Perhaps not surprisingly, Obama gets particularly negative ratings from the GOP, as 85 percent of Republicans disapprove of the president’s handling of the border crisis. Sixty percent of Independents also disapprove of Obama’s handling of the crisis, while 57 percent of Democrats approve. Obama is not alone in getting low marks on his handling of the crisis, however, as most Americans also disapprove of the way Congressional Republicans are handling the issue.

Obama urges immediate access to Ukraine crash site – Yahoo News

The EU has so far lagged behind the U.S. with its sanctions, resisting imposing penalties that would target wide swaths of Russia’s economy. Europe’s reluctance is in part the result of fears that sanctions on Moscow could boomerang and hurt the continent’s economy, which has close ties to Russia. However, given the large number of Europeans killed in last week’s plane crash, U.S. officials believe the EU may be more motivated to deepen its penalties. Obama said now is the time for Putin to “get serious” about resolving the crisis in Ukraine.

Obama Promises to ‘Deepen and Broaden’ Sanctions Against Russia – Yahoo News

“We are going to degrade and ultimately defeat ISIL, in the same way we went after Al Qaida,” he said after a NATO summit meeting in Newport, Wales. “You can’t contain an organization [such as this]. The goal has to be to dismantle them.” His comments were significantly stronger than those on Wednesday, when he said the goal of an international coalition to fight IS was to reach “the point where it is a manageable problem.” His words Friday echoed the hawkish remarks made earlier in the week by secretary of State John Kerry and Vice President Joe Biden . Obama added NATO understands it has “a critical role to play in rolling back this savage organization that is causing chaos in the region.” Obama added that, despite a cease-fire agreed upon Friday by Ukraine and pro-Russian separatists, sanctions against Russia for its actions in Ukraine would be expanded. He also reassured allies in eastern Europe that NATO would increase its military presence there.

Obama: NATO will ‘ultimately destroy’ Islamic State – UPI.com

President Barack Obama said he was hopeful but skeptical about a ceasefire agreed in Ukraine on Friday and urged European allies to agree on new sanctions against Russia that could be suspended if the peace plan holds. He also said he was leaving a two-day NATO summit in Wales confident that U.S. allies were prepared to join a broad coalition to take action to degrade and ultimately destroy Islamic State militants in Iraq. “We also sent a strong message to Russia that actions have consequences. Today the United States and Europe are finalizing measures to deepen and broaden our sanctions across Russia’s financial, energy and defense sectors,” Obama told a news conference.

Obama backs new sanctions to pressure Russia on truce – Yahoo News

There was unanimity over the last two days that ISIL poses a significant threat to NATO members, and there was a recognition that we have to take action, Obama said at a news conference in Newport, Wales, wrapping up the annual summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Islamic State, also referred to by the acronym ISIL, has captured swaths of territory in Iraq and Syria. While U.S. airstrikes in support of Iraqi and Kurdish forces have helped reverse the Sunni extremist groups gains in Iraq, Obama again indicated he had no immediate plans to extend the fight into Syria, where the militants also are seeking to overthrow the regime of Bashar al-Assad . NATO Allies Ready to Fight Islamic State, Obama Says – Bloomberg

“Today, the United States and Europe are finalising measures to deepen and broaden our sanctions,” Obama said after the end of a NATO summit in Newport in Wales. The sanctions, due to be announced on Friday, would target the defence, energy and financial sectors. These measures should be applied in a way that pressures Russia to ensure “follow-through” on the ceasefire, Obama said. “The only reason that we’re seeing this ceasefire at this moment is because of both the sanctions that have already been applied and the threat of further sanctions,” he said. Obama said that “Europeans are moved here discussing at this point the final shape of their sanctions’ measures”.

Obama says hopeful but skeptical of Ukraine ceasefire – Yahoo News

Obama announced that all NATO allies will provide security assistance to Ukraine, including support and care for Ukrainian troops. Obama reiterated that pro-Russian separatists must keep their commitments, even as European leaders plan to intensify sanctions against the Russian government and its economy. To apply pressure, Obama said the discussion at NATO and the international community’s support of Ukraine has been “a testimony to how seriously people take the basic principle that big countries can’t just stomp on little countries.” Obamas comments come two days after he referred to the Russian advance in Ukraine as a moment of testing for the world, a problem that challenges that most basic of principles of our international system, that borders cannot be redrawn at the barrel of a gun. An attack on one is an attack on all, and so if, in such a moment, you ever ask again, Wholl come to help? youll know the answer: the NATO alliance, including the armed forces of the United States of America, he told a gathering of almost 2,000 Estonians. On Thursday, Obama, UK Prime Minister David Cameron , German Chancellor Angela Merkel , French President Francois Hollande, and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in a display of fraternity. Obama and Cameron published a joint editorial in the London Times Thursday making clear to Russia the determination of NATO allies in defending one another.
